Rebranding Page Name

I have decided to rebrand the name of this page to TheRT's. Since someone took that name for a blog page back in 2011 and never did anything with it I cannot use that as my URL. So the official URL at the moment is HTTP://retiredteachersadventures.blogspot.com

Camp Leggett's PCT Sign in Board

A Day in Campo to start the PCT

We arrived in Campo, CA on Wednesday, May 10 at 8:45 people where we met the camp hosts and found a place to park our Bare Box trailer.  The journey started earlier that day from Claremont Ca as we had our real-life work stuff to deal with before heading down to Campo. Life delayed and or allowed us to leave after 3 PM, which put us into Southern California traffic. The purpose of the day's travel was to drop off our son who plans to try the PCT. We met up with our son Sean in Escondido and had dinner with him before turning onto Highway 8 towards Campo.

As stated we were met by trail hosts of Camp Leggett, Onespeed, and her husband who I don't recall his name at the moment. Who told us where to park and invited us to join them around the campfire before the camper's midnight hour.

In the morning we were greeted by Skywalker and PappaBear and treated to pastries, fruits, and tea and or coffee. We also met the other 16 or so hikers that will be leaving on this day for their own PCT adventure.

Our son Cameron has been dreaming about the PCT hike for a while now and gave notice at his place of employment with an anticipated start date of May 11th. He leaves without a trailname but we are sure he will have many adventures and stories to tell.

We hiked the 1/4 mile to the southern terminus to obtain the PCT permit and register, touch the border wall, and get a photo shot of the terminus.

The PCT is a continuous 2650-mile hike from Mexico in the South to the Canadian border in the west. It runs along mountain ranges in the states of California, Oregon, and Washington. The State of PCTorganization permits up to 50 hikers per day between February and May starting in the south for northbound hikers.

2023 is an exciting year for PCT hikers because of the record rain and snowfall the mountains received, especially the Sierra Mountain Range, approximately 250 miles of the hike. The record snowfall has made many hikers reconsider their start dates or postpone their plans until another year.

Our son started his journey on this date May 12, 2023

PCT Videos

I am to keep the following on the lowdown. My son Cameron will be starting the PCT on May 11th. He is unsure how far he will make it and so does not want me to make a fuss about his trip. I have been following a few different people/groups who started earlier this year.

The Codgers Possible Start March 6, 2023. I know they started on a Monday.
