Cameron and the group arrived in Tehachapi on June 19 where they had a zero to resupply. They left on June 21 late in the afternoon. The group is now up to eight people. The group consists of only two Americans.

Let the Journey Begin. Retirement June 10, 2023
On June 7, 2023, my brother Dean held a retirement party in my honor at a local airport restaurant called Maniac Mike's! I knew Mike and his son Mike Jr.. Mike Jr. competed against my son Sean in gymnastics for over 12 years and then one year in high school diving. (A story for another day)
The event was wonderful, everything I wanted out of a retirement party. There were family, friends, and local dignitaries to wish me goodbye.
Dean's wife Holly catered for the event. Holly is the world's best cook and the meal provided at the event did not disappoint.
There were many special people at the event, the staff I work with, some previously retired teachers, but the best surprise was having Jerry Adams in attendance. Jerry is my current principal who was injured in a motorcycle accident in October 2022. I had not seen him since the accident. He looked great, his body still on the mend, but he informed us he needed additional surgery, thus continuing the delay of his return.
My last day of school is on June 9th. My official retirement date is June 10th!
