As I start into my 4th year of retirement. I retired in June 2023 finishing up my career with in the 2022-2023 school year. Since that time the classes of 23/24, 24/25, 25/26 have graduated.
In August/September2023 I traveled to Europe to hike the TMB and visit Paris, France and Normandy, France.
In September 2024 I traveled to Africa to explore. Landing in Nairobi, Kenya and traveling into Tanzania, where we visited Dar es Salaam. We also explored Malawi, Zambia, where we finished our trip in Livingstone near the great Victoria Falls.
In April 2025 a friend and I ventured out to do some sections of the PCT. We started in Campo, CA and hiked section A ending in Warner Springs. We then picked up the trail two weeks later and hiked from Palm Springs through Big Bear and ended up just shy of Silverwood Lake State Park. We hiked over 200 miles in 15 days. Best day was 18.8 miles.
In April 2026, the same friend and I again attempted a section of the PCT. We started just before Silverwood Lake and hiked into Wrightwood, CA. We zeroed in Wrightwood waiting out a storm that dropped rain and snow in mid April. I pulled the plug on continuing the hike because of pain in my knees and a case of plantar facetious. This trip only netted about 40 miles in 3 days
In August 2026 my wife and I did out annual trip we call the Connor Rendezvous in Wyoming. This year we traveled to the east side of the Wind River Range for a weekend backpack hike. We hiked and explored for three days covering 24 miles. My knees really suffered on the trip.
In Sept 2026 I had my left knee replaced. TKR. I had a Stryker Triathlon Knee installed. As of this posting I am day 24 from the operation. I am walking without a cane or walker. I was just cleared to drive a motorized vehicle. Yesterday was the first day I was able to walk up steps, with some pain and stiffness, but able to alternated feet with each step versus having to place both feet on the same step. My goal is to heal and strengthen this knee and have my right knee worked on soon.
